DALE BAZAN

Dr. Dale Bazan is Coordinator of Clinical Experiences for University of Nevada, Reno where he oversees the student teaching internships.  He holds a Bachelor of Music and Bachelor Music Education from the University of Manitoba (Canada), Masters of Music from University of Northern Iowa , and Ph.D. in Music Education from Case Western Reserve University.

Prior to assuming his position at UNR he was Coordinator of Music Education for University of Louisiana at Lafayette from 2019-2023.  . Dr. Bazan was previously Associate Professor of Practice in Music Education and Coordinator of Music Field Experiences at University of Nebraska - Lincoln from 2007-2017 and Assistant Professor of Music at University of Alaska - Anchorage from 2018-2019.

Dr. Bazan was an English/Language Arts/Drama teacher in Canada for 5 years and 5-12 Instrumental Music Teacher in Canada and the United States through 11 years. In addition to his band directing at Chugiak High School (2017-18) he taught Acting and introduced beginning guitar courses. His ensembles have succeeded and received commendations at every level. Dr. Bazan also served as Adjunct Assistant Professor of Music Education and Course Designer for the Kent State University and University of Florida Online Masters of Music Education programs.

In the music education research world, Dr. Bazan is (or has been) an Editorial Board Member and Reviewer for Contributions to Music Education, The Journal of Music and Dance, Urban Education, and Middle Grades Research Journal.  He has presented throughout the world at international, national, state, and local conferences on his teaching and research interests. His research interests include teacher preparation, teacher identity, foundations of teaching, creative process, popular musicianship, and social justice. He has also been an active performer in jazz, rock, and classical venues on saxophone, guitar, and bass guitar and has conducted jazz bands, rock bands, wind bands, and musicals throughout North America.
